Resumen: Avocado is a climateric fruit, obtained from the tree Persea americana, which was originated in Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru about 1000 years ago (Téliz, 2000). Nowadays it is one of the most popular tropical fruits and consumed worldwide for its high nutritional value, taste, versatility of applications and ease preparation (Bartoli, 2008). Avocado production and exportation stills facing a problem of losses due mainly by two factors: short self life and postharvest losses by pythopathogenic fungi.
