Abstract: Different samples were prepared using potassium permanganate as an active ingredient for ethylene removal and montmorillonite as support material to improve the oxidizing activity of potassium permanganate. Montmorillonite was treated by swelling or protonation process and then modified with potassium permanganate. A dry blend consisting of potassium permanganate and montmorillonite was also prepared. Effect of the preparing processes on the structure and morphology of montmorillonite were evaluated by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, transmission electron microscopy, scaning electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption-desorption techniques.
